The Rise And Rise of the Home Business Owner

The Rise of the Home Business Owner

by Ray Higdon

IMG 8785bw 231x300 The Rise And Rise of the Home Business Owner

There is a global shift occurring that you should be aware of. It is permeating every facet of society. No longer is it a rumor or a underground society that is kept in the corner. It’s mainstream and everyone is bearing witness. It is, The Rise of the Home Business Owner.

Why Most Fear the Home Business Owner

The successful Home Business Owner flies in the face of the American educational system created by people like Rockefeller and Morgan to have more competent workers. If more people realize that schooling is for one purpose, and one purpose only (to make you a better employee) then the veil lifted may reveal other common fallacies around employment, investing and the media.

Yesterday I spoke at a local chamber event. A guy came up to me before the meeting started and said “Network Marketing huh?” with a smirk and sneer on his face. Once he learned that I have created a high multiple 6 figure income with network marketing, a multiple 6 figure income with online marketing and a 6 figure income for my coaching and speaking business, never having finished college and failing English 4 in High School, he handed me his card and asked me to contact him…

There is no hiding the Home Business Owner any longer

Years ago, before the Internet, the family next to you could be making $30,000-$100,000 a month with their home business and you would never know it. Top network marketers were legends within their companies, some making millions, and were unknown outside their company. There are leaders within Network Marketing that have been making 20 million+ a year for over 20 years that you would ONLY know their name IF you were in that company.

The Internet chipped the veil. Social Media smashed it.

Now once-confident employees are forced to witness the lifestyles of the enlightened. Forced to see the home business owner taking their kids on more vacations, spending more time with loved ones and CHOOSING how they spend their time. Clinging to degrees and 3-6% annual increases knowing each increase also increases the demands of their company, the light at the end of the tunnel called retirement is getting dimmer and dimmer…

You may have seen earlier why I think the trend will get even hotter

The Faces of the New Soldiers

They don’t just punch a clock and go home, drink a beer and watch the electronic income reducer. They attend webinars, read books, and travel to empowering events. They don’t watch the clock for 5′o’clock to show up so they can grab a beer and talk about sports, they look forward to 5′o’clock to get home to work on their dreams. Most of this new elite still have jobs but that is NOT their life. Their life is focused on becoming better so they can leave those jobs and fulltime work from home.

They are new soldiers because they have not reached their goals yet but they have decided to wage war on mediocrity. Wage war on being a cubicle slave. Wage war on having to ask permission to do anything. Wage war on minding a boss that doesn’t give a shit about them. They have decided, to wage war. This war is not one of physical violence but of mental clarity, focus and determination to ESCAPE MEDIOCRITY.

There is a rising…are you part of it?

If you are a part of it, share this message. Let the light permeate the darkness. Let them all see you know a better way, a way where YOU can be in control, a way where YOU are the designer of your dreams. Let them see.

The Benefits Of Working At Home

Going to work in an office can be stressful and costly for both employee and employer. Thanks to technology many people have the option of working from home (or off-site at that warm beach somewhere!). For consultants and freelancers there are obvious reasons why you should work from home (you might not have another choice anyway!) but for full-time employees there are financial and personal advantages to working at least a couple days per week from home. Not every profession allows for this flexibility but if yours is one of the many that do, here are some benefits to look into for both employer and employee.

Lower Costs for Employers

Reduced office costs
Fewer people in the office results in lower office bills: less coffee to provide, fewer paper clips to stock, fewer phone calls to pay for, less toilet paper to buy and so on.

Managers may plan to have a certain number of employees working from home at any given time and may even choose to have smaller offices where employees rotate among desks. These days so much is done by email that an employee might not even need his or her own number at work but should he or she really need it, technology may permit call forwarding, calls over the internet and whatever else is possible.

(If you’re an employee and you’re terrified of not having your own desk with your own stacks of documents, check out this 14 minute video about Semco, a company in Brazil in which employees in fact are not allowed to use the same desk all the time. But be warned: after learning about Semco you might never see work the same way again!)

Reduced health insurance costs
Employees who have more flexibility in their schedules tend to be happier people because they may arrange their schedule to include running errands, taking care of their children and getting enough rest and exercise. Happier employees = healthier employees = lower health insurance costs. You may read about the “link between psychological health and overall health” here.

Lower Costs for Workers

Less fuel and other car expenses
In 2009 Cisco released the results of their survey of nearly 2,000 of their telecommuter employees around the world. On average each employee saved approximately US$5,000 in 2008 in fuel expenses alone by telecommuting (the total for all surveyed was US$10.3 million). Working from home you’ll also be putting fewer miles on your car and reducing gas emissions.

Lower child care expenses
Although working from home you’ll still need to dedicate the same amount of time to work, you can still be the person who will drop off and pick up your children after school, take them to the doctor or even watch out after your toddler for half of the day. But most importantly, the time you spend with your children is priceless, which brings us to the next section.

Personal Reasons To Work from Home

Spending time with your children
Thirty five hours per week at work (40+ for Americans) plus commuting time all adds up to time not spent with your children. Both you and your children will be happier if you spend more time with them. But you can always ask your children what they think.

In my own experience, I feel very lucky I had my dad around when I was a child. Due to his working schedule, Dad spent half days at home and it was just awesome to see him around! He could just be taking care of our dog or taking a nap before his next shift but there was a very warm feeling in knowing that Dad was around to take care of me if I needed him.

More time for oneself
You may put the time you spend commuting towards your hobby, favorite sport, studying or other experience more enriching than attacks of road rage and smelling the armpits of that guy in the metro who’s never heard of deodorant.

Increased productivity
When employees have more time to be with their families or to do things for themselves, they’re happier people. Happier people are less stressed out and are less likely to make mistakes. Happier people are more productive, which leads to more work done and more money saved. This I learned from Dr. Foo, my neurologist in NYC (great guy, by the way!), but in reading an article at CNN some supervisors see the productivity value in flexibility as well. One supervisor mentions that employees are more committed to a company that allows them to have flexible schedules. Another manager explains that having employees with flexible schedules is an advantage to her because that way her company may expand its working hours to better cater to the 24/7 business cycle in which it works.

If you’ve never thought of working from home but your company offers this option, you might be interested in finding out how such arrangement works out for you. If your company doesn’t have a work-from-home program, you may be in a position to ask your boss about this arrangement.

Why Work at Home Businesses Will Thrive

Why Work at Home Businesses Will Thrive

If you have ever considered a better lifestyle, one that has you spending more time with your family and less time at the office or with your boss, this post will help you see that work at home businesses are a great idea and exactly why the timing is perfect.

Who Would Even Consider a Work From Home Business?

I think there are several categories in todays world. Here are a few:

1. The person that has finally realized that the higher you go up the corporate ladder the more they will pay you but also the more they will demand of you. In most cases, it’s paid servitude.

2. The person that realizes that work at home businesses allow YOU to be in control AND with todays tools (social media, blogging, etc) they CAN be successful without being an amazing presenter or trainer.

3. The person that does not have time. This may sound weird as a lot of times that is the biggest objection people have about work at home businesses is they don’t have time, well, if you understand that good work at home businesses pay you RESIDUAL INCOME and your job doesn’t, the person with no time all of a sudden realizes that they will NEVER have time in their life UNLESS they create something that does pay them passive income.

Any other categories of people that you think should be looking at a work at home business opportunity? Be sure to comment below.

Why Work at Home Businesses Will THRIVE

In a lot of countries, (especially mine), is is becoming much more costly to have employees. The idea of increasing the taxes for business owners is a shell game that actually hurts everyone. While the middle class and poor buy into the idea of taxing the job creators or the rich, all it does is force business owners to pass that cost down and pay lower wages, enforce longer work schedules and do more global outsourcing. So the cost of state-run healthcare or higher costs so the government can take care of you (because the government is so good at running things, right?) actually hurt the middle class and poor much more as the wealthy choose to just take their toys and go home and move to other countries or simply employ less people.

This is NOT trying to be overly political, however, the bottom line is if the trend continues, more people will struggle to make ends meet, especially in the lower-middle class range. This creates opportunity for those NOT wanting to settle for government cheese and has those people desiring a better life to look into alternative forms of income. Those types of people run into the following:

1. Franchises
2. Starting their own small business (with the inherent problems their boss had that started their search)
3. Network Marketing

Having done all three, Network Marketing is the lowest overhead and has the same tax advantages as the other two. IF YOU are reading this, know that it is a great time to position yourself in the industry (online and offline) and intercept this huge trend of displaced employees.

How to Intercept the Trend

1. Get positioned. If you are NOT currently in one of the work at home businesses, get with someone who can teach you how do start. The four main components to evaluate are team, training, support and leadership.

2. Learn Marketing. Marketers rule. If I wanted to I could start a plumbing business tomorrow, not knowing anything about plumbing, and dominate my area due to my ability to market. Attend marketing events, read books on marketing and get around smart marketers and spend time with them.

3. Have the long term vision. Network Marketing is a long term play, which, IS A GOOD THING. Too many people go broke trying to get rich quick, stop that already, it’s a waste of time. With the global community we live in now, it is easy to run webinars for multiple countries as well as prospect people in your area via social media.

This trend is happening right now. Which side of the fence are you on? I believe there will be a lot of displaced employees and unhappy people with the different things going on in the different governments around the world. Be smart and don’t quit your job right away but at least have a plan b that could potentially grow into your full-time income. And what if I am wrong? What if the economy magically gets better and rainbows and unicorns dance across the landscape? Well, I still think it’s good to have more tax advantages and multiple streams of income. Do you agree with me? Comment below.
